The haters keep hating…at a university no less. Will this be considered a racial hate crime?

As evidence of “implicit bias,” the resolution prominently cites an instance in April 2016 when campus cops arrested a black student in class for a wave of graffiti. The student, Denzel McDonald — who goes by the name “King Shabazz” — spray-painted “FUCK THE POLICE,” “DEATH TO PIGZ” and several similar rantings on a bunch of buildings all over campus for half a year. Some of the spray painting contained the signature line “– GOD.”

McDonald caused an estimated $4,000 in damage with his graffiti.

During one instance of the graffiti rampage, McDonald allegedly threatened to kill a witness if the witness called police.

The University of Wisconsin student government’s resolution demands that the campus police chief, Kristen Roman, “shall fully cooperate” with a newly-created accountability board which will have power over “the hiring and firing of officers that discriminate” and over “policies and trainings of implicit bias,” reports Campus Reform.

The student council resolution, entitled “UWPD Accountability and Community Control of the Police,” declares the University of Wisconsin has seen “many incidents where students of color and historically marginalized communities are treated differently by police officers.” Also “current policing practices” “demonstrate a lack of voices for communities of color” and Black Lives Matter activists have called for “community control of the police.”

The resolution complains that the campus police department published photos of two black males suspected of burglary. Also, campus cops released a photo of a white man carrying a knife but then, when he left, announced he was “no longer a threat.”

The “treatment and characterization of people of color” by the university police department “raises questions about their implicit bias and discriminatory policing procedures,” the resolution states.

Police recommended 11 criminal counts of graffiti and one count of disorderly conduct for McDonald. However, Dane Country district attorney Ismael Ozanne, a Democrat, filed no charges. Instead, Ozanne referred McDonald to a diversion program and dropped all charges from McDonald’s permanent record.

Supporters of McDonald organized a protest a few days after his arrest entitled “We Are GOD: A Day of Disrupting White Supremacy & Anti-Black Racism at UW-Madison.”

For the spring 2017 semester, the University of Wisconsin has offered a course titled “The Problem of Whiteness.” The course description explained that the class “will ask what an ethical white identity entails” and “what it means to be #woke.” (RELATED: University Of Wisconsin: ‘Problem Of Whiteness’ Course Is Totally ‘Not Designed To Offend’)

The University of Wisconsin student government passed its “UWPD Accountability and Community Control of the Police” resolution by a 28-0 vote, with no members abstaining.

The faculty senate will now consider the resolution.
