Man Dead, Suspect in Custody After Cloquet Shooting

A man is dead and a suspect has been taken into custody in Cloquet on the Fond du Lac Reservation after a shooting.

Cloquet Police report they were called out to the 1700 block of Wolf Ridge Road at 8:52 a.m. Friday. Officers and medical personnel found a man inside with gunshot wounds. Authorities said he was brought to a Duluth hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Officials found and arrested a 33-year-old male suspect “a short time later” near the crime scene. He is being held at the Carlton County Jail.

The Cloquet Police Department said it does not believe it was a random act, and there is no risk to the public.

The Fond du Lac Police Department, Carlton County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted.
