40-year-old man facing several charges after shots fired in Proctor

PROCTOR, MN –
A Proctor man faces several charges after firing a firearm in home on Saturday.
According to the Proctor Police Department, officers responded to the incident at 5:45 p.m. at the 100 block of 5th Street regarding a man with a gun in a house.
When officers arrived, they say, they heard several shots fired.
Police say a 40-year-old man fled the area on foot and was later apprehended with the help of the St. Louis County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.
Officers arrested him near Midway Avenue and Brook Street.
Police say they recovered a long rifle (AR-15).
The suspect was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where he received medical treatment and is currently being held in a secured area for medical evaluations.
Authorities say the incident started when the suspect and his live-in girlfriend had an argument, and the suspect resorted to using the firearm.
Police say the man is facing several charges including; attempted homicide, terrorist threats, felon in possession of a firearm, child endangerment, reckless firing of a firearm and second degree assault.
Responding agencies included St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Hermantown Police Department, Duluth Police Department, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
