Another rez shooting. Dope deal? Robbery? Who knows. I guess we will, sooner or later. Which will be the first charged dropped for a plea agreement?
Unconfirmed word is it was a robbery gone bad, more than one source has told me the folks shot were robbing the suspect, an alleged dope dealer. Although the article says there were no “life threatening injuries” there currently is one male booked in Cartoon County Jail with charges related to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and 2nd degree murder as well as other charges. We’ll know more once he’s charged…
Two injured in Cloquet shooting; suspect in custody

A man is in custody after a shooting in Cloquet left two people injured Sunday.
The shooting occurred at around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Brevator Road and Big Lake Road, a news release from the Cloquet Police Department said. According to WDIO-TV, Cloquet Police Chief Steve Stracek said the victims and suspects were in two separate vehicles and that all parties are known to each other.
The victims drove themselves to the Fond du Lac Police Department where medical personnel attended to their injuries, before the victims were transported to a Duluth hospital, the news release said. Police did not believe the injuries were life-threatening.
Multiple agencies searched for the suspect and arrested a man in the area of University Road, north of Moorhead Road, at around 9 p.m., the news release said. The suspect is in the Carlton County Jail awaiting charges. The News Tribune generally does not name suspects until they have been formally charged with a crime.
The Fond du Lac Police Department, Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, Fond du Lac Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Carlton County Consolidated Emergency Response Team assisted in the search, along with K-9 units from the Fond du Lac Police Department, Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, Saint Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and United States Customs and Border Protection.
The Cloquet Police Department does not believe the public is in any risk at this time.
