Two men were arrested late Sunday after an alleged armed robbery in Cromwell.
The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office said the suspects were arrested by Duluth police officers based on a vehicle description given by the victims.
The robbery was reported at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday near the Cromwell Pavilion.
“The victims indicated that they were robbed at gunpoint by two individuals and that the suspects eventually left the area upon the completion of the robbery,” sheriff’s office investigator Dan Danielson said in a news release. “The victims had previously made arrangements with the suspects via the internet to meet at the pavilion to potentially complete a purchase. It was at the time the parties met to discuss the purchase that the robbery took place.”
Authorities did not disclose the number of victims or the nature of the planned purchase.
The suspects are a 19-year-old Cromwell man and a 20-year-old Duluth man. They’re being held in the Carlton County Jail on preliminary charges of second-degree aggravated robbery.
The Fond du Lac Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and Cloquet Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
