Bernie Sanders to appear at rally in Hibbing on Friday
By Andrew Krueger Today at 5:48 p.m.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders will host a rally in Hibbing on Friday morning just days ahead of the Minnesota caucuses, his campaign announced Wednesday.

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for the rally at the Hibbing High School Auditorium, 800 East 21st St.

“Sanders will discuss a wide range of issues, including getting big money out of politics, his plan to make public colleges and universities tuition-free, combating climate change and ensuring universal health care for all,” Sanders’ campaign announced in a news release.

The event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are encouraged at https://go.berniesanders.com/page/event/detail/rally/4gpkq. Admission is first-come, first-served.

“For security reasons, please do not bring bags and limit what you bring to small, personal items like keys and cell phones. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security,” the event announcement stated.

This will be Sanders’ second campaign stop in the Northland in a month; he spoke to several thousand people at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center on Jan. 26.

The Minnesota caucuses will be held next Tuesday, March 1. Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, is locked in a tight race with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.
