A Cloquet man will spend five years in prison for possessing child pornography.

Arne Gene Jokinen Johnson, 26, pleaded guilty in Douglas County Circuit Court in August to one count of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced this week to five years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision.
According to the criminal complaint:

A 13-year-old boy reported to the Superior Police Department that he had conversed online with Johnson, who was using the name “Sipher Daze.” Most of the conversations were sexual in nature. After getting the IP address for “Sipher Daze” Superior police were able to find the physical address in Superior where Johnson was staying. Police found more than 1,500 images of suspected child pornography and several pornographic videos that appeared to contain young males between ages 12 and 16 years on Johnson’s cell phone.

While some appeared to have been downloaded from the internet, others appeared to have come from specific individuals. Johnson told investigators that some of the pictures were of local children, although he declined to give names. Johnson admitted he has a problem and tried to get treatment for having an interest in younger boys.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children confirmed that Johnson’s cell phone held child pornography from three different series.

At sentencing, Johnson was ordered not to have contact with anybody under 18 years of age and not to use the internet. He must also maintain absolute sobriety, register as a sex offender and complete recommended psychological treatment.

When interviewed in March 2014, he said he sought the images because he has a “lust and desire” that he “can’t control.”
