CHICAGO (FNS) — A woman and two men from the Red Lake Indian Reservation were arrested last week just outside Chicago with $80,000 worth of heroin and several handguns.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times website, Jessica Johnson, 29, and Leo Cook, 31, both of Redby, as well as Derek Paddy, 19, Red Lake, were arrested last Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop.

The Sun-Times reported that a Kane County, Ill., Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a 2007 Chevrolet Impala for an equipment violation on Interstate 90 at about 1 p.m. near Huntley, a village about 50 miles west of Chicago. While the car was stopped, a drug-sniffing dog indicated there was a potential presence of narcotics in the car.

Upon searching the car, law enforcement discovered 400 grams of heroin, a .45 caliber handgun, a 9mm handgun and $9,000 in cash, according to police; the heroin had an estimated street value of about $80,000, the newspaper reported.

The next court date for Paddy is Nov. 18; Nov. 19 for Cook and Nov. 20 for Johnson.
